Spoke on the various problems facing our economy & on solutions to the problems at the India Economic Convention 2014, an International Conference on the Indian Economy. Due to policy paralysis & corruption we lost direction, dedication & determination to grow. We must emerge out of this negative atmosphere. Fiscal deficit is not the only deficit troubling us. There is deficit in governance, trust, morality & right environment needed for business. Mindset that investment is bad must change. Investment is not restricted to industry only. There is scope for investment in various fields. Focus on global positioning is important. The world will look at us when we have positioned ourselves in a way that draws them to us. Women have central role in our GDP. From agriculture, handicrafts, education & services sector, the contribution of women is paramount. I believe in trusteeship, the way Gandhi ji envisioned it. When we talk of progress, lets not think only of the present but also the future. Forget walking, India has the capacity to run! Our biggest strengths are 3 Ds- Democracy, Demography & Demand http://nm4.in/1ftIqIC
Interacted with chartered accountants. They asked questions on issues ranging from justice delivery, federal structure to youth employment. Atal ji's Government shows coalitions can't be an excuse for misgoverance. Its about intent & whether Governments can fulfil the promises made to people. Answering a question on delayed justice, talked about Guj's Lok Adalats & Evening Courts that made justice delivery quicker, more effective. Someone asked me on India's federal structure. I said our states are not our weakness. PM & CMs should work as a team for India's progress. On GST, I made it clear that BJP has never been opposed to GST. But, without proper IT infrastructure GST will be difficult to implement. Centre's preparation on GST is inadequate. They haven't addressed state's concerns. BJP is firmly committed to reforms for India's growth. State must be policy driven with no scope for arbitrary discretion. This minimizes grey areas & ends corruption http://nm4.in/1cUAUd6
Had a wonderful interaction with traders at the All India Traders Convention. Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi was present on the occasion. We must come out of web of laws that are impeding progress. Trend of running things from Delhi must stop. We must have faith in our states. Global challenges need not be feared, they must be seen as opportunities. Spoke about the need to boost online trade instead of limiting it. Increasing purchasing power of the common people is very important. Once that happens, the earnings of our small traders will be enhanced. Trust deficit between the Government & people must end. We have seen the disastrous results when Government sees everyone as thieves http://nm4.in/1kbd812
