Honoured to be among war veterans & families of martyrs who gave their lives for India, at the Shreshtha Bharat programme in Mumbai. There can be no better way to mark 51 years of 'Ae Mere Vatan Ke Logon' than witnessing Lata ji herself sing parts of this historic song! Our Armed Forces don't only shine on the battlefield! We have seen their great service in saving lives be it in Uttarakhand or Kutch quake. India needs to be self-reliant in manufacturing defence equipment. Till when will we keep importing arms from overseas? A very touching part of the evening was when everyone sung 'Ae Mere Vatan Ke Logon' at the end of the programme http://nm4.in/1b1avXd

Yesterday, I flagged off trucks that will travel across the length and breadth of India as a part of Loha Abhiyan. These trucks will collect both iron and soil that would be used for the Statue of Unity, which would be built on the banks of the Narmada River. This is an effort to unite India through people's participation. Apart from the iron & soil, nearly 2 crore people will sign a petition when the trucks travel across India’s villages, making it among the world’s longest banner with a message for good governance. Essay competitions have also been organised. We salute the team of volunteers who are traveling with the trucks, spreading Sardar Patel's message of unity across India http://nm4.in/1eLAh8A

BHajpa Vikash ki taraf नये वर्ष में छत्तीसगढ़ को एक नया राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार : भागीरथी नल-जल योजना के लिए कवर्धा नगर पालिका को नई दिल्ली में प्रथम पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया जाएगा नये वर्ष का पहला सप्ताह कवर्धा शहरवासियों के लिए राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार की खुशखबरी लेकर आया है। उल्लेखनीय है कि भागीरथी नल-जल योजना राज्य शासन द्वारा शहरी क्षेत्रों की गरीब बस्तियों में रहने वाले परिवारों को निःशुल्क नल कनेक्शन देने के लिए संचालित की जा रही है। योजना के तहत अब तक 70 हजार 252 गरीब परिवारों को राज्य सरकार की ओर से निःशुल्क नल कनेक्शन दिए जा चुके हैं। इस वित्तीय वर्ष 2013-14में प्रदेश के शहरी क्षेत्रों में मार्च 2014 तक एक लाख गरीब परिवारों को नल कनेक्शन देने का लक्ष्य निर्धारित किया है और अपने तीसरे कार्यकाल की पहली समीक्षा बैठक में नगरीय प्रशासन एवं विकास विभाग को सभी नगरीय निकायों के सहयोग से इसके लिए युद्ध स्तर पर अभियान चलाने के निर्देश दिए हैं।
